It has been quipped that every man wants to be James Bond and every woman wants to be with him. If you really want to know James Bond you need to read Ian Fleming’s novels. They are ripping good adventure stories, just like the movies. However, the literary Bond also has a lot more seriousness and depth than his cinematic counterpart. The following suggestions can help you bring out your own inner 007 this Christmas.

  • A Parker Jotter stainless steel “Flighter” model ballpoint pen plays a significant part in the film Goldeneye. You can get your own Jotter, minus Q’s explosive enhancement, for a very reasonable price. The Jotter is a classic ballpoint pen that looks at home in class or the board room. Appropriately, the Jotter is manufactured in Great Britain.
  • One, or more, of Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels published by the Folio Society. London’s Folio Society produces some truly beautiful books that are a fine addition to your personal library. In addition to Fleming’s Bond novels, they publish important works by authors such as Cicero, J.R.R. Tolkien, Gibbon, C.S. Lewis, and John Lukacs. Through these novels you can get to know the James Bond that originally captured the reading public’s imagination and inspired the film franchise.
  • A Billy Reid Bond peacoat will help you look the part of the world’s most sophisticated secret agent. Daniel Craig wore this coat in the film Skyfall. With peak lapels and leather details, this is a peacoat with a little more style than most.
  • In the novels, Fleming’s Bond drives a Bentley. But there is just something irresistible about Sean Connery’s Aston Martin in the films. If you are going to dream, might as well dream big.
